Router and Vista

Recommended Posts

I have a Netgear router, model RP614v2. It works fine. However, the Netgear website says it has been discontinued, and is not supported in Vista. If I don't want to change it's settings, can I still use it after I switch from XP to Vista?

Does netgear make you install any software on your pc? I've used belkin, and linksys routers and neither of them do. All you need to configure is a web browser..

You should still be able to configure the router with vista, unless netgears are different. :(

I have the same router.

To change settings, I type in an address. I fail to see what difference it makes which OS you are using.

It works with Linux.

Surely it will be easier to find support for Vista than Linux. No?

Well I just got a Sony Vaio with Vista Home Premium and my RP614v2 ain't working with it.

Vista sees the router and all, but when I try to open IE, I get an unable to connect to DSN crap.

Somehting to do with "TCP Window Scaling" from what I can find on the 'Tubes.

If I connect the Laptop directly to my DSL box, it works fine.
