Moderators Andavari Posted October 17, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 17, 2006 Thanks for the link to this article, everyone interested should be reading it pronto! sometime in early November IE7 will be pushed out to Windows XP users with Service Pack 2 SP2 has been out since 2004, wonder if that's a typo and he meant SP3? Edit: I emailed him to ask just that. Edit 2: Nope, he stated it wasn't a typo.
JohnDemolition
chances are that IE3 will also be included in SP3

JohnDemolition
according to FileHippo, the final version of IE7 is released. http://www.filehippo.com/download_internet...orer/changelog/
Moderators rridgely Posted October 18, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 18, 2006 It seems to really be the final version. I checked the about menu before uninstalling the release client and then looked at the one on this version is 0. It was supposed to be released today anyway so maybe MS just likes filehippo. I still really hate the way the toolbars are.

Moderators TwistedMetal Posted October 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2006 No, I got it off of fileforum earlier today. They were offering IE 7 Yahoo! optimized (only version at the time). It had the Yahoo toolbar, Yahoo set as home page, and Windows Internet Explorer provided by Yahoo! as the title. So, I just uninstalled the Yahoo! toolbar and changed the main title. Moderators rridgely Posted October 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2006 Ugh I cant believe that you have to have a whole new toolbar just to use site advisor: They really should have included a classic mode or something.
JohnDemolition
the tabs don't glow when you hover over them...what the hell is that?

Moderators rridgely Posted October 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2006 Yeah but I don't want an extra toolbar period. Why can every other browser on this planet with tabs auto hide the tab bar and have movable toolbars but MS the largest freaking software maker on the planet cant accomplish this?! Also res45 why on earth do you still see ads? You have two options to get rid of those. One would be to install IE spyad here: http://www.spywarewarrior.com/uiuc/resource.htm or a host file from here(read info on site if you go this route): http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm
res45
Ok did the host file thing no more ads nice thanks for the tip. Was pretty easy to fix.
Moderators Andavari Posted October 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2006 Ugh I cant believe that you have to have a whole new toolbar just to use site advisor: They really should have included a classic mode or something. Just unlock the toolbar, then drag SiteAdvisor to a new area - unfortunately in the screenshot below it was the only non-obvious area I could move it to. I only updated to the new IE for a security-wise reason, there's no way in hell I'll be switching to IE after being used to Firefox which in my opinion now has the classic layout which IE is sadly missing and can't be customized to have. At least Firefox is made by default without s**t scattered about. Edit: Microsoft has IE 7 available from them as well at http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads/default.mspx
Moderators hazelnut Posted October 19, 2006 Moderators Share Posted October 19, 2006 After a fast download I have had no problems with IE 7 so far. I have found it faster than IE 6, hope it stays like that! After using Opera, I like tabbed browsing so I'm glad IE 7 has added that feature. Robbie
I rarely use IE, much preferring FireFox. On the rare ocassions I use IE7 (Beta) I have found it takes longer to load. My default home page is blank, with IE6 it loaded withing a second. With IE7 it seems to take a few seconds and is locked until the "blank page" has loaded, which is annoying. Anthony A
Ugh I cant believe that you have to have a whole new toolbar just to use site advisor: They really should have included a classic mode or something. What is this site advisor you refer to? Couple more questions about IE7. Is there a full screen mode like IE6 has? In IE6 I just press the full screen button I place on the tool bar and all tool bars and the task bar dissapear. IE6 also has auto hide so all I need to do is put the cursor at the top of the screen and all the tool bars appear and when I move the cursor away they dissapear again. I love this feature. What about IE7? Is anybody using the Google Tool Bar with IE7 and if so how is it working? Is anybody using Maxthon with IE7. How is this going? Is there user guide for IE7 that I can get before I install and use IE7?
