I tried going into safe mode, administrator, and deleting at the C: but it still doesn't delete. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Are you actually clicking the Run Cleaner button or just the Analyze button?

If the files are somehow locked you can give Unlocker a try.

yes, am removing files. did downloaded and run unlocker program. states there's nothing to unlock, asked the program to delete at boot. Went back and changed properties on the folder, still no luck. Should I do the same under administrator or in safe mode? Maybe go back to C: ?

You could always give safe mode a go.

I take it you have Zone Alarm, also some of those logs are microsoft ones, you know the ones that ask you if you want to report an error to microsoft.

Also have you ran a virus/malware scan recently?

I've been having a little look around and True vector part of zonealarm may be be causing problems for you, and microsoft is asking you if you want to report it to them. Has any of this happened ?

As I don't have zone alarm myself hopefully someone who has may give you a bit more info on it.

Have you tried re-naming one of the files to see if you can delete it that way?

Unlocker was just updated to version 1.8.4 which fixes a bug where it previously wouldn't delete files on reboot.

Tried renaming directories @ c: was able to on some, also I have latest Unlocker on board, still not able to delete. Yes I have seen a dialog box with that from MS, am going to research about turning it off, data in files seems to point to MS. Any ideas?

Most people would say it's not a good idea to turn off the error reporting service from Microsoft. If no one reports anything, they'll never know there's a problem! See here

Just a thought, you don't have windows firewall turned on as well do you? Or if you just have windows firewall on and not zone alarm, do the error messages go away?

Have you tried this to delete the temp files

Go to Start > Settings > Control Panel >Internet Options.

Under the General tab click the Delete temporary internet files,

delete all Offline content as well. Clear out Cookies.

Also, go to Start > Find/search > Files or folders > in the named box, type: *.tmp and choose Edit > select all -> File > delete.

Empty/delete the entire contents of the C:\Windows\temp folder and C:\temp folder, if you have one. (Contents but NOT the folder itself.)

You may have to show hidden files, to do this -

Open My Computer.

Select the Tools menu and click Folder Options.

Select the View Tab.

Under the Hidden files and folders heading select Show hidden files and folders.

Uncheck the Hide protected operating system files (recommended) option.

Click Yes to confirm.

Click OK.

This may not cure the underlying cause of course.

Hi guys! I'm just here to tell how to clear out the Dump GHP WIN32 Services creates for sending the error report to the microsoft. Of course, i'm talking about clearing the ".DIR00"

Folders.

First,

http://www.firewallleaktester.com/wwdc.htm

Download the "Windows worm cleaner" which does via porting.

It's clearly understandable and stops the Generic Host process errors, first. And Reboot The system for the changes to take place.

Now, do this in order to get rid of the "Undeleteable" .DIR00 folders.

First thing first, Restart your PC and click F8 Repeatedly as it's an easy way, and DOS brings up a command in which choose "Safe mode".

Now,

You see An account called "Administrator", there, you need to go into it.

Then,

Open My computer, Go to the temp folder in your local settings, i.e.,;

C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local settings(In case if hidden, unhide it by going to folder options)\Temp

Now, as you're there, Right-click anywhere in the temp folder, not on the sub-folders present in-side it and now, you can see you have three tabs.

|general|Security|Cutsomize|

Now, go to Security Tab, There you can see below "Permissions For Everyone" Box

Which has "allow" and "deny" to various controllable functions such as "Move", "Create", etc;

So, just tick "Allow" to every function there. And hit "Apply".

TADA!! Finish! You can "SHIFT" + "DELETE" the .dir00 folders now, Your temp folder will be as clean as it used to be earlier.

-KBC.
