CC always hangs on either 'Analyse' or 'Run Cleaner'

I'm running CC Pro 1.15.507 on a MacBook 6.1 running High Sierra version 10.13.6.   The program loads and will allow me to use the tools or the settings tabs but when I hit 'Analyse' it just hangs there on 0% for hours, days or even weeks.   Exactly the same happens if I hit 'Run Cleaner'.  I'm running out of electricity and sucking the life out of the National Grid.

I've disabled all other programs except my McAfee virus protection.   Plenty of memory and hard disk space.  No other program behaves this way.

Please someone help.
