Phil C
Morning all, the last couple of times ive tried to update CCleaner, ive hit the update button on the app interface. This has launched a browser window to the update download site. Recently, this window remains blank, and I get 2 or 3 (depending on whats active) error messages stating that certain browser extentions have crashed. These usually are Ad Block, FBP and Logitech. the browser update window will not connect to the site, and opening new tabs etc also remains unconnected. I can get round this by reloading the browser, disabling all active extensions and then relaunching CCL and running the update. Its been like this for a month or so now, but not really looked at it. Is anyone else having similar issues? Chrome Version 72.0.3626.121 (Official Build) (64-bit) is my default. I have in the past swopped to FFX and done the update but really shouldnt need to bugger about. I guess an update somewhere has caused this but whose? Moderators hazelnut Posted March 24, 2019 Moderators Share Posted March 24, 2019 Might be less trouble when you know there is an update just to download it from here https://www.ccleaner.com/ccleaner/builds Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
Moderators nukecad Posted March 24, 2019 Moderators Share Posted March 24, 2019 Your browser problems may be due to Chrome itself making changes to what extensions, especially ad blockers, can do. The fact that disabling your extensions temporarily cures the issue would tend to support that. I'd check that your extensions are up to date, and still compatible with the latest Chrome. Here's an article about it from January:https://www.zdnet.com/article/google-chrome-could-soon-kill-off-most-ad-blocker-extensions/ *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? Phil C
cheers Hazlenut - yes ive done that once, and it worked OK. Nukecad - yes that was my assumption too., but dont really have the time or inclination to dig into it further. Chrome is becoming a tad buggy itself recently. Main reason for posting was so that CC developers were aware of a possible issue.
