More info on Software Updater required

Nice to see the addition of Software Updater and it might prod me to upgrade to Pro. But first I need to know;

1 - is there a list published of the programs you detect/update?

2 - Is this an "update manager" or a "Vulnerability manager". Quite frankly I am only interested if it is a "vulnerability manager". I can decide on my own if I want to update software for new features etc. But I think it is VERY important to update software that has a security vulnerability for which a patch is available.

What I am REALLY looking forward to is a replacement for the discontinued "Personal Software Inspector" from Flexera (used to be Secunia)

It's pulling its updates from file hippo so the list is any software on that site (for better or worse).

Sadly, as I miss PSI dearly too, it is an update availability not vulnerability

Since the demise of Secunia PSI, I have been pretty happy with PatchMyPC.

This is too bad. I really want a vulnerability manager that only looks for security issues. I remain hopeful that some old Secunia employees get VulnDetect off the ground. They were originally hopeful to get a free product off the ground by last fall. https://vulndetect.org/

We filter out some software from that list.

If the Software Updater uses only the data from FileHippo then many products that I have installed are not detected and updated.
On my PC CCleander found 8 applications and VulnDetect found 66 products.
So will there be other resources or just FileHippo?

I'm guessing just FileHippo, they probably have a partnership going or something.

As far as I know, Piriform owned FileHippo before the takeover by Avast.

So perhaps that  was part of the package.

I knew they were the 'official' download site for Piriform, but thought it was an arrangement not ownership.

It's was speculated for many years, and then some findings on the Internet helped validate it, but not "from the horses mouth" since they've never stated anything about it.
