Moderators hazelnut Posted March 2, 2019 Moderators Share Posted March 2, 2019 Quote Samsung is adding bloatware to its 2019 TVs because McAfee is paying them to do so. There is arguably no reason for Samsung to offer third-party antivirus software for an operating system that is developed in-house. https://www.techspot.com/news/78967-samsung-loading-mcafee-antivirus-software-smart-tvs.html Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
Moderators mta Posted March 3, 2019 Moderators Share Posted March 3, 2019 wasn't Samsung TV's the ones with the issue a few years ago where the in-built mic or camera was able to be hacked and remotely accessed? Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. See the Consumer Reports YouTube channel they have some videos starting in 2018 I believe about Smart TV security, and what to turn off in them. Admin Dave CCleaner Posted May 8, 2019 Admin Share Posted May 8, 2019 McAfee (whitelabelled) has also been on Samsung phones since the S7 series. Despite the negative reaction in the comments section of that article from folks who may be less than overjoyed with having McAfee preloaded on their PCs, if they take the same approach with the TVs as with the phones it is likely that no-one will notice that it is even on there. Moderators Andavari Posted May 11, 2019 Moderators Share Posted May 11, 2019 I'm surprised nobody ever complains about Trend Micro being embedded inside Sony PlayStation for basic "security", has been since PS3.
