Command line /auto parameter not working

Recommended Posts

This worked until a couple of weeks ago. It would run CCleaner, clean the files up normally and then exit.

C:\Program Files\CCleaner\CCleaner.exe /auto

Now the program returns immediately to the command line and does nothing.

If I run the program without the /auto parameter, the CCleaner GUI starts up and waits for input, but I need it to run automatically.

Please help,

Dave

does the problem coincide with the release of the latest update, v5.44?

do you use Kaspersky or MalwareBytes Premium?  these have known issues when using the latest CC version.

if nothing above pans out, try going back a version or two (or three) until the issue goes away.
previous version can be found on FileHippo.

Hi MTA,

I did as you suggested and installed the older release 5.43 Build 6522.

The old release works properly. It seems the bug was created in release 5.44.

By the way, I use Norton security, not Kaspersky or Malwarebytes.

Many thanks,

Dave

good news.

you'll have to try the next release and see if that fixes your issue. :)

FWIW: For several years, I've run CCleaner from a script. Earlier this year, I began experiencing this problem (launch & immediate exit without cleaning) after updating to 5.44. I reverted to 5.43 and, as expected, the problem went away.

Today, after receiving a Piriform announcement that 5.46 had been released, I installed it in hopes the problem had been fixed. NO JOY!

When run from a script or batch file, version 5.46 still launches and then immediately quits, without cleaning.

This problem has now existed through versions 5.44, 5.45 and 5.46. It appears that no one at Piriform is paying attention.

Meanwhile, I have reverted to 5.43 which runs flawlessly.
