'never' is a bit harsh, but yes they are a lot less frequent and I guess the reason may be that the thing they do doesn't warrant any updates.
unlike CCleaner, where the folders and programs and Operating System it cleans are always evolving, that's not so with the others.

and the current bugs those programs have seem to be not on any sort of priority list with Avast/Piriform, which in itself is a shame but another topic altogether.

Backup now & backup often.
It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.
Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last.

Most defrag and recovery software when stable and without any obvious bugs will rarely receive updates. I've used defrag software before that hasn't had an update in a 2-5 years period, and where it usually takes a new version of Windows to cause need for a development update.
