Moderators hazelnut Posted April 9, 2006 Moderators Share Posted April 9, 2006 I was reading about this the other day, the windows resource monitor. Is there a reason why they stopped including it after windows ME ? Mike Rochip
I was reading about this the other day, the windows resource monitor. Is there a reason why they stopped including it after windows ME ? I'm just guessing but I was thinking maybe it's because you can check resources in Task Manager. I can't remember ME, but on my Win98 machine Task Manager doesn't show anything about resources. I'm not sure if it's similar to windows resource monitor, but I've used TinyResMeter from PESoft and it seems like a handy little tool.
Moderators hazelnut Posted April 10, 2006 Author Moderators Share Posted April 10, 2006 Mike, here is a link to an article about it. A couple of paragraphs down it tells you how to install it on a 98se machine if it doesn't already show up. Do you have it ? http://www.russelltexas.com/tutorials/resourcemeter.htm Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
lokoike
I was reading about this the other day, the windows resource monitor. Is there a reason why they stopped including it after windows ME ? If you scroll down to about the middle of the page, it says: The Resource Meter is not available for Windows XP or Windows 2000 because those NT operating systems handle resources much more efficiently. Apparently the New Technology File System (what a lame name) fixed that problem in 2000/XP. Thanks for the useful info, hazelnut. Save a tree, eat a beaver. Save a tree, wipe with an owl. Every time a bell rings, a thread gets hijacked! ding, ding! Give Andavari lots of money and maybe even consider getting K a DVD-RW drive. If it's not Scottish, IT'S CRAP!!! Mike Rochip
Hi hazelnut - Did lokoike answer your question? Here is a screenshot of TinyResMeter. You can change the many options it has by right-clicking on the tray icon. I'm not sure this is what you're looking for or asking about but I hope it helps. Moderators hazelnut Posted April 11, 2006 Author Moderators Share Posted April 11, 2006 Thanks Mike, As I have xp I had no way of finding out what the old windows resource meter looked like or anything so I wondered if anyone with a 98se or ME had it on their computer. Thanks for taking the trouble to post that screenshot of TinyResMeter in action !! Glad to be of some help (along with hazelnut). I also tried out System Monitor. Seems like it can monitor just about everything, except temps, unfortunately...
