Trying to run cleaner and it says it needs chrome closed, i click to close chrome (have already unchecked chrome running in background), gives me the taking a long time do you want to force close, click yes, then cleaner stops responding.

I have tried uninstalling chrome, still get the same message and results without chrome on the computer.

uninstalled and reinstalled ccleaner (v5.12.5431 64bit)  and it reinstalled chrome in the process.  Still having the issue.

Any ideas?

when you reload CC, untick the boxes that indicate Chrome will also be installed.

or use the Slim or Portable builds that don't offer Chrome.

even though you removed Chrome, did you still have ANY Google products still running; check Task Manager.

Same problem on both my laptop and desktop with windows 10 & now CCleaner 5.12 (was having the same issue with previous CCleaner version). This a new issue to me, it only started about week ago. I disabled chrome from running apps after closing, and task manager does not show chrome running, but CCleaner appears to think it is open, then crashes as stated above after the force close.

don't just look for Chrome in Task Manager, but ANY and ALL Google related 'sync' programs.

look at this pinned topic; http://forum.piriform.com/index.php?showtopic=40285&p=244877
