So I just finished my masters degree last week. My wife decided that this was enough to allow me to build myself a new gaming pc. My old one was still fast (Fx6300, HD 7870) but I wanted something new for all the games coming out soon.

Oh and I think she wanted the old one so she could play the sims 4 better.

Here is what I got:

Core i5-4590

R9 290x

8gb DDR3

256gb Samsung Evo SSD

1tb Western Digital HD

This thing is awesome! I cant wait for Arkham Knight to come out!

what OS did you go for?

I've been building rigs with the same specs (no add-on graphics though) and have found it all comes down to having a SSD.

now that I/O bottleneck is gone even i3's and 4gig's RAM is more than fine.

and Congrats on the Masters, it is no small effort.

I started to upgrade my Bachelor to a Masters a while ago (in computing) and found it too disconnected to the 'real world', got disillusioned and dropped it.

so well done.

Congratulations on your degree and the new computer.   :)

The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-)

Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers.

Sounds like a nice powerful system for gaming, video encoding, etc. And mucho kudos to the boss for giving you permission!

Is it time to change that text above your avatar to something like "I love computers I build."  ;)

Thanks guys. That degree was a monster to finish.

I'm lucky when it comes to tech purchases. My wife is just as interested in buying computers/gadgets but she is also better with money than I am. :P
