HELP! Lost Help and Support Center :(

Help! I was cleaning up my in-laws computer as well as my own and somehow I now removed or lost the Help and Support Center on both. I used ccleaner on all the standard settings along with adaware and spybot (also on default settings) and now neither computer can access the Help and Support Center. I looked for it in Windows Explorer and it says file cannot be found. When I looked in regedit (without changing anything) it appears to be there and from the fix I got on Microsoft, it is in there properly. I would like to repair this espeically on the inlaws computer because they may need it. I also tried the two related fixes in previous related posts and neither worked. Her computer is set up with XP Pro, and mine has XP Home, I am not sure how to do a repair installation so if that should be neccessary someone will have to walk me through the steps because when I tried it on my computer I got stuck on the screen after I selected my xp operating system where I had to type in what I was repairing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! :(

Hi Dbag,

The service may have been stopped somehow. Try this, and post back with the results.

Start > Run > (type) services.msc > click OK

Look in the right window pane, and scroll down to 'Help and Support'. Double click the service and change the following.

Startup Type: Automatic

Service Status: Started

Then click 'Apply'. This is assuming that the service is stopped.

Have a great day! :)

Great suggestion krit. There's also DjLizard's Dial-a-fix which can reinstall and repair the Help & Support Center. Dial-a-fix
