New Windows 7 Install - Cannot Install CCleaner

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I've just reinstalled my laptop today. I've done a bunch of install already and Windows Update.

When I go through the install of CCleaner at the time where you decide if you want Google Chrome or not, the page actually opens in the browser and when I get back to the installer, the window is empty and I can nly click on "back" (checkboxes are on the html page in the browser), and when I do the installer crashes.

This seems really strange, any help?

Regards,

Edit: it's really strange, I have tried reinstalling CCleaner on my other rig and it didn't prompt me with the Google Chrome install. ???

it won't prompt for the Chrome installation if you already have Chrome or if you have previously tried installing CC in the last 60 (?) days.

Try using the slim version of CCleaner install instead here

It's gone, as well as the download link. :(

Btw., @ teh MajorGeeks.Com » Poll, I'm compelled 2 vote: "Slim version will be back", but IDK?!?? :-$

the builds page and the download links have had a few issues in the past week, on top of the buggy release and re-release of the latest version(s).

the Slim build normally shows up about 1 week (I think) after the standard release.

as far as no-extra software prompts concerning Google, the Slim and Portable builds are the same.

The majorgeek article has been debunked, they were shooting of their mouths about stuff that was wholly untrue

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
