Moderators hazelnut Posted August 29, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2014 Go back in time and play some games (just scroll down a bit) https://archive.org/details/consolelivingroom The Internet Archive Console Living Room harkens back to the revolution of the change in the hearth of the home, when the fireplace and later television were transformed by gaming consoles into a center of videogame entertainment. Connected via strange adapters and relying on the television's speaker to put out beeps and boops, these games were resplendent with simple graphics and simpler rules. Moderators Andavari Posted August 29, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 29, 2014 Old school games were harder to beat too and many seemed like they were from the factory on the hard or insane difficulty level, not modern games though.
Moderators mta Posted August 30, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 30, 2014 Good timing Hazel, about 2 months ago I stumbled upon an Atari 2600 ROM site and have been reliving my youth all over again. Even though I still have the game console and it's fired up once in a blue moon when the kids and I want to 'rock it old school', the emulator has been great to discover releases I had never heard of. Mind you, some are simply woeful. Backup now & backup often. It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. Moderators mta Posted August 30, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 30, 2014 Reminds me of the pitiful Pitfall. sorry, have to politely disagree. it would be one of the many that I could not count the hours I wasted on it. come on, jumping from crocodile head to crocodile head, and often being eaten - scary stuff in those days. Corona
My first home game system was a Sega Saturn that came with Sonic The Hedgehog. I loved it. Many years before then it was strictly what was available in any mall arcade. Tank was pretty fun but I was horrible at it. Space Wars and Breakout were my favorites.
