jjc1
Erase free space in this brand new version doesn't allow the option to "zero out" my Macintosh HD like 1.07 did. The "Erase Free Space" button stays inactive when I highlight Macintosh HD. The program does allow me to erase free space of the external hard drive I use with Time Machine. Don't know if it's a bug or not. Are there conditions that Macintosh HD must meet for CCleaner to erase free space?
Admin MrA Posted July 23, 2014 Admin Share Posted July 23, 2014 Hi there, Can you please confirm what type of drives you are using? SSDs or HDDs? Within our recent update, we added some new safety precautions into the "Wipe Freespace" functionality. This prevents users from using the "Wipe Freespace" utility on SSDs as it can be harmful to the health of the drive. MrA
charliebach
Hello Folks, I have an apple mac mini, I have been trying to use erase free space option with CCleaner however it goes into a loop which states"operation terminated" whenever I try to use the Zero Out option the busy wheel shows and I am inable to get out of CCleaner . I thought it was working in the background so let it run for 24 hours-its still running? Have had to force reboot of the mac to stop it, Any advice will be appereciated. Thanks. Moderators Nergal Posted August 28, 2014 Moderators Share Posted August 28, 2014 Beta is never supported officially by Piriform products, after all the developers're (likely) working out the bugs with the new (huge changes in this OSx as far as I'm aware) betas just as you are. NERGAL -non-Mac user ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
