BewilderedBob
Despite 3 downloads and many attempts to install 4.14 it hangs early during install and can only be killed with Task Mgr equivalent. Err msg points to "opening err" but that's all she wrote. Any ideas will be appreciated. Bewildered Bob
Moderators Nergal Posted May 24, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 24, 2014 What security software are you running? To make sure you downloaded ccleaner from piriform com or file hippo, please tell us where tou obtained the installer ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. nwarp
I had the same hang problem I found if I disconnect from the internet by disabling my internet connection the update will install easily and fast from the down loaded install file which I downloaded before the disable action. This also happened as well when I upgraded from the free version to the professional version of Ccleaner. I've been looking for the reason why this happens without success. My system win7 home premium 32bit Sp1 router Netgear R6300 wifi 11ac dual band I'm in Australia. Regards
Moderators hazelnut Posted May 25, 2014 Moderators Share Posted May 25, 2014 It may be that some security software that you have installed may be 'restricting' the install. If it also contains a firewall then it may not like CCleaner phoning home at install to check you are installing latest version. Glad to hear you got it sorted anyway and thanks for posting back about what worked for you Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
