CIACIACIACIACIACIA
RECENTLY I HAD DOWNLOADED RECUVA FULL INSTALLER BUT I CAN'T INSTALL IT WITH PROXY SETTINGS AND WHEN I OPEN THE WINDOW OF THE RECUVA INSTALLER TO INSTALL IT FROM THE INTERNET CLOSES IMMEDIATELY. WHAT SHALL I DO? (I CAN'T CHANGE THE PROXY SETTINGS IF I CHANGE I CAN'T HAVE ACCESS). IS THERE ANOTHER WAY TO INSTALL RECUVA? (FULL PERHAPS?). Moderators Andavari Posted December 9, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 9, 2013 It does that "phone home" to make sure you're not installing an old outdated version. Instead try the Portable build (you can even unzip it over the top of a previously installed version): https://www.piriform.com/recuva/builds
CIACIACIACIACIACIA
I HAVE TRIED THE PORTABLE VERSION BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. I UNDERSTOOD THAT SOMETHING'S GOING ON WITH THE RIGHTS OF WINDOWS XP. I TRIED TO INSTALL IT IN OTHER PCS AND EVERYTHING WERE FINE. WHAT SHALL I DO? Moderators Nergal Posted December 10, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 10, 2013 Please turn off the caps lock. It is considered yelling and I harsh on readers' eyes ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T. Moderators Andavari Posted December 10, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 10, 2013 I HAVE TRIED THE PORTABLE VERSION BUT NOTHING HAPPENS. Are you able to download it? Or is it just getting recuva.exe to run that's giving the issue? The Portable build is just a zip file that you need to unzip into a folder to properly use such as: C:\RecuvaPortable

CIACIACIACIACIACIA
WHEN I MEAN NOTHING HAPPENS I MEAN THAT THE PORTABLE VERSION CAN'T RUN AND PRESENTS THE REPORT NOT A WIN32 APPLICATION. WHAT SHALL I DO?. CLEANING THE REGISTRY IS VERY RISKY ESPECIALY FOR OUR WINDOWS XP SETTINGS. ALWAYS CAPS.
Moderators hazelnut Posted December 12, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 12, 2013 Please stop posting in capitals. Do you get this error with any other things you try to install? Try using a different browser to download Recuva. Do not select 'run' instead make sure you save the download to your machine first, then run the installer. Moderators Andavari Posted December 12, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 12, 2013 May also want to try installing and/or running Recuva from an administrator account. Or try what I've seen Hazelnut recommend in the past which has had success which is try to install it in Safe Mode.
CIACIACIACIACIACIA
I had installed the portable version and the full version in administrator mode and things didn't change at all. I had downloaded these versions with different browsers but nothing happened and did as you said (saved first and then run the installer). I don't want to install these programs in safe mode of windows because it's better for a software to have a safe mode option (you forgot that). I also want to ask why can't we write caps? Is this forum buggy?
Moderators hazelnut Posted December 13, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 13, 2013 If you post it capitals on forums it is considered to be that you are shouting. We don't do shouting here We are calm If you try to install ccleaner in safe mode all it means is that programs which may interfere with it installing cannot do that because they are not running. It is perfectly okay to install CCleaner or Recuva in safe mode. Then you boot back into normal mode and use them. Make sure that you clean all you browser caches because if a download is corrupt your browser cache can try to give you the same corrupt download each time from the cache. CIACIACIACIACIACIA
I have downloaded recuva 1.49 with a clean cache and reboot the PC and install it and run it in safe mode which was succefull. After i runned it in safe mode i tried to run it in normal (Administrator) mode but again exited. I forgot to mention that your program isn't compatible with Avast's DeepScreen technology and when anyone tries to run Recuva with this feature enabled the program exits stating that Recuva is a suspicious for viral signatures. That of course is a bug and anyone who wants to run this program in Windows (with Avast installed) must have the DeepScreen feature deactivated. Moderators hazelnut Posted December 17, 2013 Moderators Share Posted December 17, 2013 Thank you for the Avast info. Have you reported this to them as a false positive?
