CCL allways worked fine on this set, but from a few weeks ago it takes a looong time from klick on screen logo until CCL show. (app. 10sek.) Maybe something With an W8 update at that time ? I have a machine similar to yours and noticed the same thing happening, but only if I tried to start CCleaner right after booting Windows 8. Keep in mind that Windows 8 uses a new process called "hybrid boot". An article on the subject is here: http://www.zdnet.com/windows-8-hybrid-mode-brings-faster-boot-3040093896/ I personally think that this is done to give the user the impression that Windows 8 starts very quickly, when in fact Windows 8 is still going through the boot process long after the Metro screen appears. And I have no installed AntiVirus - I do fine withoutit This happened after an W8 update, but i don't know if there is a connection there. Yep, there sure is, THEY ARE CALLED INFECTIONS. Malware, viruses, keyloggers, just to mention the main players. I take it your PC is not connected to a network, no CD's or USB's get inserted and no other user but you has access. If so, no AV just may be a passable option. But hang on, you mention you got Win8 updates, so you are connected online, which leaves your PC open to a multitude of possibilities that can effect everything and anything - including startup times. Asking members for help, knowing you have no AV, may not be the most prudent use of problem solving your own issue first before seeking advice. Rule out that possibility first. Backup now & backup often.It's your digital life - protect it with a backup.Three things are certain; Birth, Death and loss of data. You control the last. What do you have ccleaner set to do at startup? Does the same delay happen with ccleaner if you run it at other times? Do you have any Winapp2.ini entries? Do you have any security software running in realtime? How do you ensure you are virus/malware free ? Have you added any new software in the last month which runs at startup? . Regardless, both 8.1 and 8.0 and all other versions of Windows are vulnerable. No. Do you have any security software running in realtime? Just the implemented Security. NAT, firewall in rooter. Strict policy. Running EI10 no coocies only th accsepted in prioritylist. How do you ensure you are virus/malware free ? Netscanners, HiJack this and so on. Beleve me, I can manage...... And this is NOT topic. It is JUST ant ONLY CC that has aslow starup. Have you added any new software in the last month which runs at startup? No. And I may add. Which version of ccleaner are you running, the full, the slim or the portable? One red mark that I not have managed to rectifie : ID 137, Altred CPU in restingperiod for memory type (MTRR) This may reduce performance on resume - probably bad translation from Norwegian. But this is no co-timing with opening CC. Opening other programs has no timedelay. I just installed new updates from MS and it did not alter this issue. CC version is 4.06.4324 - 64bit De-bug run of CC I have no expirience with. Please explain eventual bad consequenses, if any. This is turning tobe a matter for this computer only. We just need to try and find out why ccleaner waits so long before it opens. The debug log might tell us that.
