I don't know how to attach it as a thumbnail so it will load faster. How does one do that with the new forum software?

I'm not sure about thumbnails, but Hazelnut pointed out to me a few weeks ago that once you have a link loaded into the editor there is an option at the bottom of the editor to 'display as link instead' rather than showing it as an image.

@login123

I do not blame you for the scare - It was entirely Burnaway's fault.

@Andavari

Congratulations on posting a message with single line spacing.

The IPB forum software inserts unwanted blank lines when I attempt to place one line immediately after another.

The trick to single line spacing
is to press shift at the same
time as return/enter.

It's just the quirky IPB software.

Thanks, Alan.  Picture is  gone now, offer expired anyway.  It was a big file.

The CCleaner SLIM version is always released a bit after any new version; when it is it will be HERE :-)

Pssssst: ... It isn't really a cloud. Its a bunch of big, giant servers.

Speaking of software issues, the double post just above here  is the 2nd or 3rd time I though I had deleted the contents of a post but had not.

Yeah press shift. Quirky is putting it the nice way, however I will not be nice about it since I think of it more like undoing decades of proper typing behaviour and what people expect into something completely ass backwards.

- POPMAN  (v1.3.8)

http://www.ch-software.de/popman/

Quote from the webpage:

"What is PopMan?

- PopMan is a POP3 and IMAP4 manager. It can be used to list all e-mails received on your incoming mail server, without having to load these mails completely. Unwanted e-mails can be deleted directly from the server.
- You can use PopMan to check your e-mail accounts in the background. When new e-mails arrive, you will be notified.
- To show you whether e-mails contain useful information, or whether they are just spam, PopMan provides a preview functionality. You can use this preview pane to read the text-based content of your e-mails – whether they are plain text or HTML.
- In contrast to most e-mail programs, reading mail with PopMan is absolutely secure. There is no threat of executing dangerous code or being infected with viruses."

- I still use POP3 for my email program (Outlook Express Classic v3.0) and POPMAN gives me a user friendly software GUI to manage (e.g. read and delete) one or more emails that are stored on the server of my email service provider BEFORE I allow those emails to be downloaded. I DO hope that with the help of the program I am able to reduce the amount of spam even more.

- Yes, my email service provider has a website where I can manage (e.g. read & delete) my emails as well. But the GUI of that website is NOT user friendly, is outright horrible !!!! E.g. it's a nightmare to sort the emails on e.g. sender, subject, date received, etc. Although the POPMAN GUI is fairly minimal, it provides, in this regard, a (MUCH) better and user friendlier GUI. I have been using the program for about a week and wish I had come across the program much much earlier.

Name: TextPad for Windows

Link: https://www.textpad.com/

Short Description: A plain text editor with some very powerful features.

Why I like it: I do a lot of work using plain text: coding web pages by hand, writing blog posts, copying email addresses to/from "Contacts" list, etc. Copying text through a plain text editor (like Notepad) and then into the final application, strips all the formatting away, and just copies the information. That's all I need: the information. No highlighting, bold, strange fonts, etc. However, unlike Notepad, TextPad offers many more features that make it useful. The environment offers some highlighting and many other tools to make coding (HTML, JavaScript, etc.) easier, even though the work itself, is all plain text.

Whenever my computer is on, an instance of TextPad is also always running, minimized in a corner for quick access. So if I want to compose, say, a forum post, from Word to plain text, it is written out nicely in Word, copied to TextPad to strip out everything except the plain text, and then copied to a forum post. Or, when adding a new person to my "Contacts", I copy the information into TextPad, and then copy from TextPad into "Contacts." Saves me typing, typos, errors, etc.

A free/trial version can be downloaded from the website, but a nag screen pops up regularly to encourage you to purchase a copy outright. If you can live with that, the software is full-functioned and a real pleasure to use. I have purchased a copy (just like I did for CCleaner) because I think it's right to help out the people who make a decent product.

PicPick Portable

URL: https://portableapps.com/apps/graphics_pictures/picpick-portable
License: Freeware (Personal use) / Paid (Business use)
Supports: Microsoft Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 10

----------------------------------------------

Edit - some annoyances it has:
* It can be tricky to get sized correctly with its awkward GUI design.
* It stays running resident in the task bar when you think you've exited out of it, so you have to manually close it using the task bar icon (near the clock).
* When manually closing it in the task bar it will sometimes cause it to throw an error dialog the next time you run it stating it wasn't closed correctly the last time.
*... other than that it's good.

----------------------------------------------

I was only looking for a good and simple color picker, and I ended up finding PicPick Portable. It's really impressive, and way better than what I was originally looking for.

Features

Screen Capture:
Take screenshots of the entire screen, an active window, specific region of the screen, free hand, scrolling window and more. Auto-scroll, dual monitors and sound effect are supported.

Image Editor:
Intuitive User Interface (Windows 7 Ribbon style). Standard drawing, shapes, arrows, lines, text, and etc. Effects are supported as well. Blur, sharpen, hue, contrast, brightness, color balance, pixelate, rotate, flip, frame effect and more.

Color Picker and Color Palette:
Various color code type (RGB, HTML, C++, Delphi). Photoshop style RGB/HSV conversion is supported. Pick and Save your favorite color.

Screen Pixel Ruler:
Horizontal and vertical orientation. various units (Pixels, Inches, Centimeters). DPI setting (72, 96, 120, 300).

Screen Magnifier:
Zoom 2x to 10x option. Stay on top, smooth display, and sizeable window.

Screen Protractor:
Helps you find angles on screen. Pick a center, then a location, then the angle in degrees away from the first. Can be used in a variety of photography, math, and graphics applications.

Screen Crosshair:
For aligning objects in graphics or design applications. For calculating relative coordinates on screen.

LIghtShot

- This is a program to make a screenshot. The build-in tools (plural) in Windows all each have their limitations and drawbacks. E.g. if the user wants to make screenshot of an opened roll-down menu then e.g. the Snipping Tool (Windows 7) isn't able to do that. The Snipping Tool will close that menu.

- But LighShot operates in a different way. It re-programs (very appropriately) the "Print screen" button/key on one's keyboard. That way e.g. an opened roll-down menu won't disappear and can be captured in the screenshot.

- The program is not as powerful as other screenshot programs which have tonnes and tonnes of (editing) options. The program has only a limited amount of editing options (draw lines, rectangles, arrows, add text, highlight text). And that's PRECISELY the reason why I like it so much. It's lightweight. And I never had any major problems with the program.

Just for info-
You can achieve that with Snipping Tool, (at least with Win 8 or 10 - not sure about Win 7), I do it all the time.

That's what the 'Delay' button in Snipping Tool is for.
Simply set a delay for the snip (3 seconds is usually enough), click 'New', and drop down the context menu during the delay.
Then after 3 secs the tool will freeze the screen with the menu dropped while you take the clip, eg:

I use the inbuilt Win 10 Snip&Sketch (which offers to snip... now, 3 seconds time or 10 seconds time) Woks fine for screenshots and has basic editing tools.

For things that are moving eg, what happens when I click on something, I use ScreentoGif.

The in-built Win10 tools for snipping is what I started using after my recommendation a few posts up about PicPick Portable, I have less issues using the tools Win10 already has. Although for older systems PicPick Portable is still useful. albeit with a few annoyances.

- I finally found a good and solid program that allows me to see the content of animated *.GIF files. I tried IRFAN but it's not as good as

Faststone Image Viewer (current version is v7.5).

The program also lets the user see other types of "pictures".
