Friend cannot open files after clean

Recommended Posts

Well, I told my friend to use CC Cleaner because I use it all the time and he did. But now he cannot open any files, or use anything on his computer. He can start the computer, Then log on and it just dis-able from there.

Anybody know any fix to this?

You need to give a lot more info than what you have posted in order for someone to be able to try and help you.

Where did he download ccleaner from?

Please say what operating system is on the machine and if the user did just a clean or just a registry clean or both.

Were the ccleaner settings at default or did your friend tick any other boxes?

Has the machine had any virus problems recently?

I have the same problem.

Where did I download ccleaner from? C-Net Download

Please say what operating system is on the machine and if the user did just a clean or just a registry clean or both: Windows 7, SP 1, ran Analyze and Run Cleaner without unchecking any boxes

What means "cannot"; what exactly happens when he tries?

What part of CCleaner did he use - the registry cleaner? If so, a System Restore to a date before that could restore its original functionality.

(see my previous post) After running Analyze, then Run Cleaner, I either turned off computer or put it on sleep mode.

Result: Clicking on any program or file icon yields this: "Insufficient system resources to complete the requested service". Control Panel window and all others are blank (not text).

I'd like to add ANOTHER reason your computer may have failed to boot:

Windows, by design, automatically tries to fix things when it thinks there is a problem. Sometimes, it even tries to fix what ISN'T a problem because an event triggers Windows to believe the computer is malfunctioning when it is not.

Leaving your PC in sleep while your gone may trigger an event like this should the power blink out momentarily for whatever reason.

_____

Now, try this! Go to start/run & type in rstrui & hit Enter on your keyboard. System Restore should load. Select a known working date & restore to it.

* If your .exe settings are corrupted, & you cannot launch restore, apply this registry patch to fix it for your 7 -> http://www.sevenforu...default_exe.reg

Please be aware that 2 posters with problems seem to be posting here with different people responding to different posts.

@ Original poster NWA, does the same thing happen if he boots into safe mode? Can you answer my questions in post #2

@JVAN (Next time please make your own thread instead of using someone elses :))

Is your Windows 7 64bit or 32bit?.

Can you boot into safe mode and use machine? If so do a scan with your anti-virus in safe mode.

Is your internet working?
