@dianejoy8 Home and Free are the same program the difference is in the support you recieve, thus you will have no difference in the cleaning.

Changes For this version (Not listed above)

WINSYS (Windows Tab)

Added Modem Logs cleaning (%WinDir%\ModemLogs|*.txt) to "Windows Log Files"

Hi diane, and welcome to the forum.

If this is your first version of CCleaner, then as long as you stick to the default settings and leave the "Registry" section alone, then you shouldn't have any problems.

One thing it will remove is cookies which may contain log in information for any web sites you have registered with.

You can save these cookies by following the information here ...

If you get stuck, then don't hesitate to ask, and open a new topic in "CCleaner Discussion" ...

... to enable the best response to any questions.

EDIT: You ninja'd me Nergal.

...leave the "Issues" (registry) section alone...

Come on Dennis, keep up, it's not been the 'issues' section for a while now ;)

I have been using CCleaner for quite a while and have been very satisfied with it. I have used Firefox for many years and have no intention of changing to another browser. I do not like Piriform adding Chrome (or anything else) to the downloads. This is the third time I have had to delete Chrome after upgrading. Why don't they make an opt-in link rather than an opt-out link? This is very frustrating!

Just shows how much notice I take of the CCleaner UI.

My wife put new covers on the couch cushions the other day, and I didn't notice those either.

No one else was excited as I was to see Pi edition (sadly 3.14.16 not 3.14.15)

Sorry, but I had not realised what you were referring to.

Six decades ago I was studying for GCE 'O' Level exams with 5 figure log tables

supplemented with the knowledge that Pi was approximately 3.1415926

Every year British newspapers fill up "slow news days" with articles about how education standards are slipping.

Sorry - I will stop talking now :)

Thanks for the post, Alan.

I was puzzled by what he meant by the PI edition.

I didn't know if he meant like, Private I, or whatever...

LOL! Thanks for clearing things up!

Create a shortcut to C:/Program Files/CCleaner on your desktop

Download the portable version of CCleaner & drag CCleaner.exe onto the shortcut on the desktop to replace CCleaner with the newer version.

If you have 32 bit Windows, use the 32 bit version, & if you have 64 bit Windows, use the 64 bit edition.

In the future, you can always use the desktop shortcut for a quick replacement from the newest portable CCleaner.

I,ve run into a looping problem when I run the cleaner (it starts looping after 1%) and had uninstalled & reinstalled it 3 times, but still can't get it to work properly. I have been using Cclner. for a few years now and have never had this problem. I am running Xp Sp3 w/1gig ram on a pentium4 chip. yeah I know it's old but as newtons law says if it ain't broke don't fix it, and so far as I can tell everything but Cclner. works fine. Do I have to wait until the next fix to use it again???
