Moderators hazelnut Posted November 29, 2016 Moderators Share Posted November 29, 2016 https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2016/11/23/add-ons-in-2017/ By the end of 2017, and with the release of Firefox 57, we’ll move to WebExtensions exclusively, and will stop loading any other extension types on desktop. To help ensure any new extensions work beyond the end of 2017, AMO will stop accepting any new extensions for signing that are not WebExtensions in Firefox 53. JDPower
https://blog.mozilla.org/addons/2016/11/23/add-ons-in-2017/ Whoopee Oh the contradictions. They'll kill off a bunch of addons, and make them impossible to replicate, whilst claiming they'll "add capabilities to Firefox that don’t yet exist in other browsers". Riiiight, so you're gonna remove current capabilities that aren't present in other browsers, so you can ADD capabilities that aren't present in other browsers Pretty much sums up the clueless, focusless, direction Mozilla have been heading the last couple of years. JDPower
And ANOTHER minor version release 50.0.2. Though I'll let them off with this one as it is at least a critical security vulnerability, so unavoidable lol

JDPower
Ctrl-Tab to cycle through tabs has stopped working at some point recently, anyone else had similar and have any clues on how to fix it??? (it's not an addon stealing the key combo as it doesn't work in FF safe mode either)

JDPower
Seems it wasn't a FF specific issue, ctrl-tab wasn't working anywhere. Kinda sorted now (ctrl-tab fixed, but discovered a few shortcuts aren't working as they should, so still nailing down what's going on)

Moderators nukecad Posted January 12, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 12, 2017 Does anybody know why Firefox 50.1.0 now opens 2 processes when launched? If you look in task manager it opens as an Application and as a background process at the same time. I've never seen this with previous versions, it used to just open as an application. (And no, I have not changed anything in the settings, no new add-ons or extensions, it just seems to do it on it's own). It's not a problem, I'm just curious. Moderators nukecad Posted January 12, 2017 Moderators Share Posted January 12, 2017 Thanks for that hazelnut, so it's now using a different process for the UI than for the page content. Don't realy see the point unless you are constantly visiting dodgy pages that crash all the time, but presumably it's been done for a reason. *** Out of Beer Error ->->-> Recovering Memory *** Worried about 'Tracking Files'? trium
for xp users with old PC´s like Athlon XP or Pentium III ... the last ff that install works on xp with cpu´s like above is 48.0.2 (i mean i remember darkly it was a tip from hazelnut) english https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/your-hardware-no-longer-supported Your hardware is no longer supported If your computer has a processor older than Pentium 4, Firefox version 49 and above is no longer supported. If Firefox is already installed on your computer, you can continue using it but you will not receive updates beyond version 48. If you download Firefox version 49 or above and try to install it, you will see the message, Firefox cannot be installed. This version of Firefox requires a processor with SSE2 support. Like many programs, newer versions of Firefox require a processor that supports Streaming SIMD Extensions 2 (SSE2) for better security and performance. We recommend a computer with a Pentium 4 or newer processor that supports SSE2 to use the latest version of Firefox, which has more features, stability and security. Firefox Extended Support Release (ESR) will continue to work with older processors but will not receive updates beyond ESR version 45.
