Willy2
New version of "Repair Windows" (v1.9.4) available. A preliminary view suggests that it tackles/repairs a number of Windows problems (much) better than the previous version(s). Beta Testers needed for the improved "Repair System Restore" feature. This new feature is - for the time being (???) - not available for Win XP. http://www.tweaking.com/ Post your comments here: http://www.tweaking....opic,706.0.html Edited January 11, 2013 by Willy2 System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Willy2
I have a number of questions for the readers of this thread: - How often did you hear about problems with Adobe's Flash and Shockwave ? - How many times were those problems solved by simply re-registering the appropriate files ? If Adobe's Shockwave is still heavily used then it would make sense to add a special "repair job" in a program called "Windows Repair". Moderators Andavari Posted January 13, 2013 Moderators Share Posted January 13, 2013 - How often did you hear about problems with Adobe's Flash For me it would their horizontal line that's in the middle of for instance YouTube videos, that also happens to duplicate the video between those two halves. This is a known issue for people with some Nvidia display cards/drivers, something they fixed many Flash versions ago to only re-introduce in versions higher than v11.3.300.271. - How many times were those problems solved by simply re-registering the appropriate files ? Nada, never, zero, zilch.
pwillener
I have a number of questions for the readers of this thread: - How often did you hear about problems with Adobe's Flash and Shockwave ? - How many times were those problems solved by simply re-registering the appropriate files ? If Adobe's Shockwave is still heavily used then it would make sense to add a special "repair job" in a program called "Windows Repair". Shockwave Player is not widely used; there are just a few public games that are based on Shockwave. Due to its low usage there are very few users reporting problems at the Adobe forum. Flash Player (also known as Shockwave Flash) is very widely used for videos and games. There are a number of different problems reported in the Adobe forum, but there is no known general remedy for these problems. However, in many cases the problems can be solved by doing a "clean install" as described in http://forums.adobe.com/thread/928315

Willy2
WARNING for users of Windows Repair (v1.9.6) (from www.Tweaking.com): the program contains a bug that can lead to repairs failing and unpredictable repair results. The bug is NOT "hiding" in one of the repairs itself but in the GUI. The program still can be used but the user has to keep two things in mind: 1. Don't use/try the "Beta Repairs" !!! 2. When the user has left the main repair window and wants to go back to that window to do some more repairs then the user MUST restart the program. Otherwise a number of repairs won't be executed or/and repairs will fail. I DO hope this bug gets fixed in the very near future in v1.9.7 System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! smc1979
In case your wondering about the bug Willy2 is talking about he posted it here to let me know http://www.tweaking.com/forums/index.php/topic,643.msg5358.html#msg5358 I will be looking to it today or tomorrow. Keep in mind the program is still safe and fine to use. The odd bug he reported is after you open the repair window, close it then go back in. If your wondering Willy2 is one of the best testers I have ever had. No one picks apart my programs like him, he is kinda anal about it lol But he does help make my work better :-) I can fix any bug that I can replicate. So I ill be looking into this as soon as I am done with my jobs today. Shane (About Shane) Girlfriend & 5 kids, Needs a lot more coffee. When people ask "Why fix what isn't broken?" Willy2
New version of the Svchost Look up tool available (v1.1.0). A Svchost.exe process can control e.g. 4 (running) services. Then these 4 services have the same PID but have a different (Svchost.exe) start switch and different names. This tool combines the info from two Task Manager tabs called "Processes" and "Services". (Win 7). http://www.tweaking....ookup_tool.html And we're working on an improved version of Windows Repair. nodles
The new version of svchost (v1.1.0) doesn't show RAM usage per service/svchost anymore. Could it be added back?
Willy2
One Svchost.exe process can control one or more services. Task Manager shows the memory usage for one process, not for each service. Perhaps the memory usage for each service can be pulled up as well. I don't know. Willy2
New program out at www.Tweaking.com: Registry Compressor IMO, a good succesor to NTREGOPT. http://www.tweaking....compressor.html Windows Repair has advanced to Version v1.9.12. In order to function properly, WR needs to (temporarily) change the state of a number of Window Services. Now at the exit of WR, the user can put those Services back to the user's favourite state. E.g. with: "SC config ....... start= ......" http://www.tweaking.com/ Post your comments on the Tweaking.com forum and NOT here.
