Winapp2.ini additions

Winapp2.ini

Recommended Posts

Did we decide not to include entries that deleted reg backups, only I notice there's an entry in the update that deletes all erunt reg backups (which on a side point seems completely pointless anyway - why install a program to make backups, then have a cleaner delete them all? :huh: )

NERGAL presses the virtual like button

This can either be removed entirely or just the .bak entry

[NirSoft RegScanner Backups*]
LangSecRef=3024

Default=False
Warning=This will remove all backups and reports made by RegScanner. If you backed up elsewhere these are safe to remove.

Perhaps a silly question, but I was wanting to know if the winapp2.ini only cleans temps, logs, temporary internet files, left behind with all applications, When I ran the ccleaner with the winapp2.ini under applications it had a lot of entries... But I was unsure what was cleaned by checking them, I didn't want it to delete my app, or remove any needed information for the application to run successfully. especially those entries with the * referenced by them.... I would give examples, but there is a lot to list...

Furthermore: I was wanting to know if these Microsoft Locations are included in the ccleaner winapp2.ini

and if they are all safe for cleanup -- like I said I don't want application runtime issues, or errors to happen...

Here are some Microsoft locations I found, can you kindly respond with which ones are included in latest winapp2, if its safe to clean, and which ones should not be touched.... Along with the orginal question about what all the winapp2.ini cleans... I don't need all the applications, I can see those, I just need to know if it cleans the temps, and etc.. or does it delete actual programs and or files that would cause it to not run right....Please and thank you...

I think this entry could do with either modifying or a warning:

[GIMP 2.8 More*]
LangSecRef=3021
DetectFile=%UserProfile%\.gimp-2.8\
Default=False
FileKey1=%LocalAppData%|recently-used.xbel
FileKey2=%LocalAppData%\fontconfig\cache
FileKey3=%UserProfile%\.gimp-2.8|colorrc

Filekey 2 causes Gimp to be majorly slow to open as it has to rebuild it's font cache every time you open it (and as such doesn't really free up any space as it just gets recreated the exact same size every time anyway)

(Edit: And filekey 3 seems to wipe your custom colour palette which could be a major PITA for some)

Programs shouldn't be broken by entries, I vote removal of keys 2 and 3

Agree - or at the very least broken into multiple entries. Not sure how many people are interested in resetting their pallets and font cache though.

I don't see the point either. I suppose I could KIND of see why you might wanna wipe your custom palette (in very rare circumstances) but wiping the gimp font cache achieves no positive at all, except for a temporary freeing up of space until you run it again. And it makes Gimp 5 or 6 times slower to open, and it's not exactly a speed demon starter as it is :P

I could see clearing the palate but not via ccleaner, more on the tip of "i'm finished with a project" or "my kids (don't have any) mucked it up painting their new art project"... i.e. manually, by hand deleting that file

many of these are thesame as your 10-10 post (post #3435) including the yahoo entries I, at the time, mentioned as odd looking (removing entire profile and smiley folders)

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
