JDPower
I was semi-concious of it until recently when I was making an entry and I was like, "there's an entry in winapp.ini that uses semicolons, that'll probably save space" took me a few tries to workout how to recurse (initially I tried ;*.*|RECURSE;*.*2|RECURSE but that did not work) but I figured it out. Ho-ah. Could you perhaps add an explanation and usage instructions to the "How to make your own entry" in the first post sometime
ricktendo64
Maybe you can further reduce file size by getting rid of the blank line separating each entry
Alan_B
Maybe you can further reduce file size by getting rid of the blank line separating each entry Why do you not test your theory on your own system ? After 30 years use of computers I have never seen a functional INI file that failed to place a blank line between entries. I think it is a standard feature and suspect that some if not all, applications would fail if blank lines were omitted.
Winapp2.ini
No, ini files in general (and CCleaner's documentation specifically notes this) require a CLRF separating each header's contents from the next header. winapp2.ini additions thread winapp2.ini github
vBender
Great addition, thank you so much! Maybe you add other monitoring software to winapp2 such as faronic's deepfreeze, stoneware's lanschool, fortres' clean slate etc etc.? Thank you so much for these great works! Mancubus
There was never anything else for Opera. What do you mean by 'was never anything else'? Is this some misunderstanding? What's missing from Chrome? Well, better see for yourself. I should've post it from the start, but it's only now I have realized there's a portable version on my drive. I have no idea what's going on, cause winapp2 are of the same version, 1.0.121126, as well as CCleaner itself, 3.25.1872 Portable vs Installed
Alan_B
@mancubus Perhaps you need to totally delete the installed but corrupted CCleaner and then re-install. Your Portable PNG shows the Google Chrome has exactly 6 entries (denoted by trailing '*' stars) due to WinApp2.ini, and another 8 off entries without starts that are native to CCleaner.exe (i.e. not caused by WinApp2.ini) Your Installed PNG has exactly ALL of the 6 '*' starred entries due to WinApp2,ini, but native CCleaner.exe is NOT presenting the 8 off non-starred entries. Mancubus
Aha... Thank you guys! Probably I know the reason. Let me check. P.S. Yeah. I was smart enough to try to add my own items not being valuable to anyone else. So I tried to create winapp3.ini file - didn't work. winapp1.ini did. And replaced own CCleaner's items, as I understand now. :-) So, if I want to have my own items listed, but don't want them to be overwritten with each winapp2 update, is there a _right_ way to do it? Moderators Nergal Posted December 11, 2012 Moderators Share Posted December 11, 2012 put 5hem at the bottom of winapp2 when you update the file download it to a middlepoint location, paste the entries I to new version ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark) ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.
