Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Here is how it actually works. - Using CCDump.exe, extract Winapp.ini from CCleaner - Rename Winapp.ini to Winapp1.ini - Edit Winapp1.ini to either comment out or remove all the cleaning modules/code that you do NOT want CCleaner to use. - Once Winapp1.ini is edited and saved, CCleaner will use Winapp1.ini instead of Winapp.ini Of course, this process would have to be repeated each time a new version of CCleaner is released to ensure that any revisions to Winapp.ini are obtained. SMalik
Looks like there is a Tsunami in this thread. Why do we have to add "NVIDIA Corporation/NV_Cache" location in all the Microsoft Store apps? NVIDIA Shader Cache (NVIDIA Corporation/NV_Cache) files get created into "%LocalAppData%\Temp" and some apps' Temp folders. We already have Microsoft Store apps' Temp locations covered in the app entries. NVIDIA Shader Cache does not target all apps. If someone is having NVIDIA Shader Cache files created in other locations, there is some thing wrong with their NVIDIA driver installation. They would need a clean install of the driver. https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/738794/hello-and-how-to-remove-folder-/ https://forums.gearboxsoftware.com/t/nvidia-cards-and-the-shader-cache-in-windows/1573020 The owner of Winapp2.ini should take control back. It was so nice before and It is getting so annoying now. Everyday, some people start something weird here. Here we go again... I have high end Nvidia GPUs on my systems and my Nvidia driver software up in the 400 series of releases. Once the 400 series of drivers were released the location of the NVidia code in Store Apps moved from the Temp location to it's own dedicated location as shown in the pic below. And there is nothing wrong with my Nvidia driver installations. And in addition, many of the cleaning modules in Winapp2.ini for Store Apps are not current with the file structures now in the Packages folder or they apply to Windows 8/8.1 and not Windows 10. IF APMichael and Winapp2 (Robert) do not want updates to keep up with Microsoft changes, then I'll stop posting them and go another route. And BTW...scan back through this forum thread and observe the number of times SMalik has posted many changes in rapid sequence. Moderators Andavari Posted February 21, 2019 Moderators Share Posted February 21, 2019 Too bad CCleaner (or some other tool) doesn't exist to completely simplify and hasten the ability to make new cleaning entries/routines for the lot of repeating sub-folder structures without having to make unique individual cleaners which seems to be a reoccurring theme for Win10. SMalik
Revised Entry There is no harm in deleting files with the .txt extension from %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\DeviceSearchCache Short paths like "\*Cache" or "\INet*" should not be used. There is no harm in deleting files with the .txt extension from %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_*\LocalState\DeviceSearchCache ... I'm sorry, but you're wrong. If you delete the *.txt files, you're breaking Cortana. Please read the previous posts (have you ever read what other people have written?) and the issue report on GitHub. After a reboot, the search for settings and applications no longer works correctly. And please don't discuss this any further with me, because other people (not me) have reported the problems and also confirmed the fix. Thanks for respecting that! 17 hours ago, SMalik said: ... Deleting these .txt files from that location in Cortana doesn't break Cortana. Have you tried this yourself? If I had control of the Winapp2.ini file, like you, I would test each and every entry myself.
