I think piriform implementing colon delimiting for RegKeys (the way FileKeys are) would have the most dramatic effect on the file size :D one can dream (my math suggests this change, if implemented in winapp.ini would save ~23KB - not a lot but huge when considering how much ccleaner gets downloaded - and not all filekeys are delimited this way either so there's room for more!)

I wonder if Smalik will return once it's up on GitHub. I know he didn't seem to like it here at Piriform anymore, but I would hate to have to lose someone who was so dedicated to this project.

I am a maintainer for Winapp2. I also have a open-source group on Steam.

Thank you very much for your kind words. I'll definitely join you guys on Github.

The entries listed below should be removed. The reasons are listed under each entry.

[Aiseesoft Studio Logs*]
There is no such program with this name that exists and because of Detect=HKCU\Software\Aiseesoft Studio, it conflicts with current [Aiseesoft Media Converter Ultimate*] entry. Looks like someone made a universal entry to wipe all of the Aiseesoft program's logs.

[Apple Installer Cache*]
iTunes can't be removed completely if there are no Installer files in these locations.

[Cached File Extensions*]
It's not cache. I mistakenly provided this entry. It removes valid file extensions.

The current [Leawo Video Converter Pro*] entry and this one are the same.

[Wondershare MobileGo for iOS*]
[Wondershare MobileGo*] entry covers this one.

Welcome back SMalik!

This entry should be removed.  It is actually for jv16 PowerTools and removes a .bak file which is against the standing rules for Winapp2.ini.  File hosts_PTBackup*.bak is created when jv16 PowerTools "Immunize my Computer" tool inserts the MVPS entries into the HOSTS file.  Removing hosts_PTBackup*.bak prevents the user from being able to restore the HOSTS file back to the original.

What about this other one (don't remember if you created it or not), just wondering that's all:

Dunno if this is the right thread to ask but Trim.bat is not working properly for me. After I input O (for it to organize) it just crashes and even if I input S (for it to skip) it also crashes after it's done analyzing via debug CCleaner. Any insights please?

Still the same.

Also it's saying that 'MORE' is not recognized as an internal or external command upon starting the trim.bat.

Try what dvdbane said. If none of those work, make sure you are not running CCleaner (even in background, check task manager to make sure) and make sure to run trim.bat as admin rights. If none of those work, try running it under safe mode. That has sometimes helped for me.

redownload trim.bat from winapp2.com and re-try

Tried that a couple of times still the same.

I tried this as well. I made sure that CCleaner is not running even on background. I also made sure that I give admins rights to the bat file (cause the trim.bat warns if you don't). However I haven't tried running it on safe mode. I'll try it later today and report back if it works. Thanks.

[Cached Shell Extensions*]

It's not cache. It removes valid file extensions. I think it explains itself.

If someone has CCleaner Professional and uses one user account to clean all user accounts on the machine, it deletes all valid file extensions from the user accounts that are not logged in. Also, even if someone has CCleaner Free edition with one use account and runs CCleaner in Safe Mode, it still removes all valid file extensions. In normal mode, CCleaner won't remove file extensions because the user hive is in use.

Okay I've tried running trim.bat on safe mode... still the same... it just closes as soon as i press organize and skip.

Any updates on this issue? It's a pain to launch CCleaner with 2k entries on the winapp2. VOLDEMORT has a trim function but it doesn't preserve the some of the checked item for Google Chrome.
