Correct on both counts...

However, It is safe to to delete them provided you're certain the logs won't be required for troubleshooting.

The logs can't be deleted without stopping the service. An entry would probably be fine with a warning.

But that's not my call.

I think the fact that it cant be removed without stopping the service was the main argument against it. I'd go back and look, but 2800 posts is a lot to sift through!

shouldn't be removed by public file, else unsuspecting people (those who don't know what an event logs is so a warning doesn't suffice) will make tech support much harder.

if you want to add it to yer own g'ahead

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

Probably a lot safer to clear them through 'Control Panel > Administrative Tools'.

The age and log size can also be tweaked smaller via 'Properties'.

Safer but a PITA on Win7 as there's loads of different logs and they can only be cleared one at a time. Unless of course you use a nifty little batch file: Win7 Clear Event Viewer.zip ;)

Problem

My Control Panel was Pinned into the Windows Taskbar.

After I added the Winapp2.ini and used CCleaner,

the Control Panel Shortcut (pinned into the Windows Taskbar) No Longer opened!

image.jpg

What Winapp2.ini Entry is causing this?
