Some programs use this folder for a copy of the install file. When you decide to update the program it may use this to update. If you delete this folder, the update won't install.

I recommend that you combine the jv16 PowerTools 2009 and 2010 code with the following code which also includes 2011 currently in Beta testing. The registry compact files are the same irrespective of which version of jv16 being used.

Has it ever been suggested to add include the latest WinApp2.ini file with each new CCleaner release and then have an option to select if it is included or not? Then those of us who like the extra options but don't necessary need all the updates inbetween CCleaner releases can still at least get periodic WinApp2.ini updates.

I don't think Piriform wants to test all entries in Winapp2.ini. A single bad entry could do a lot of harm.

That's why it would be an option, maybe a checkbox to include/exclude the WinApp2.ini file. Then you could include the file the same way you can now without having to download it, or you could choose not to and use CCleaner with the normal configuration (this would be default). Then maybe even add another option to be able to automatically check and download updated WinApp2.ini files. It may be to much effort to impliment for the small benefit.

Well basically the easy answer to this would be that it would be redundant. Why would they include winapp2.ini when they would just as easily intigrate it into the program. There is nothing different in the embedded from the way winapp2 does things, winapp2 is just extra entries that haven't been included in the program. Aside from that, this Winapp2 is an unofficial version that has been maintained by community members. The Point of the ability to do a Win*2.ini file is so a user can add entries for apps they use to the program. TwistedMetal, and now Winapp2.ini (the person), just happen to have collected a number of entires for programs from throughout this forum and made a file that is easily accessable to a user of ccleaner. I've said it before and I'll say it again. The inclusion of these files as a whole into the base installer will never happen, it would bloat the installer and (again) defeat the purpose of even having a win*2.ini (I keep many of the entries listed from the winapp2.ini shared here in my winsys2.ini)

Already included in Winapp2.ini is Eusing Free Registry Cleaner. Perhaps Eusing Free Registry Defrag will be added soon. Setting up a Request For Eusing Free Registry Defrag entry or assistance in creating one.

There seems nothing to clean for this program. If I am incorrect, please provide the location of the files you feel should be cleaned (tested on windows XP sp3) it doesn't even seem to have a registry entry in the computer's registry.

can you add "gBurner" program please..

thanks

On this one, too, I could not find any thing to clean though my test was cut short as I could not burn using my Virtual PC. The Default Temporary location for burned files is window's temp folder which is already cleaned by cleaner. There were MRU Registry entrys if that is what you wish cleaned Here is an entry

You may be correct Nergal. You may be able to clear something up for me. If you scan with Index.dat Analyzer after cleaning with CCleaner apparently index.dat traces remain for example from cnn live windows media player and possibly others. Also, is there a possibility the index.dat locations change and and thats why CCleaner is not picking up? Upon an Index.dat Analyzer scan the locations shown for dat files in the Index.dat Analyzer program window are the following.

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.IE5\index.dat

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\index.dat

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Cookies\index.dat

C:\Documents and Settings\user name\Local Settings\History\History.IE5\MSHist(numbers that would be here without quotations vary each scan).ini

The apparent random numbers in last entry may be the reason its not deleting fron CCleaner this particulat entry but the other locations stay consistent shouldn't they be removed.

Again if you can create an entry for me or instruct me on how to create one to add to Winapp2.ini file.

Appreciate all the assistance.

The Detect line doesn't work here:

[Yahoo Messenger (Logs/Cache)*]

LangSecRef=3022

Detect=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger|ypager.log

Default=False

FileKey1=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger|ypager.log

FileKey2=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\Profiles|*.*|RECURSE

FileKey3=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\Cache|*.*|RECURSE

FileKey4=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\IMVCache|*.*|RECURSE

It need to be a DetectFile line for a file or a Detect for the registry. the best detect line would be:

Detect=HKCU\Software\Yahoo\pager

========================================

The following entrities should be added....

[ACDSee 6.0 Standard*]

Warning=This will remove the Database information, use with caution***

Default=False

Detect=HKCU\Software\ACD Systems\ACDSee 6.0

FileKey1=%appdata%\ACD Systems\Catalogs\Default|*.*

The followng errors were found in the [Version: v1.0 build 101218] of winapp2.ini

Format is Line number : error found

Follwing lines have: "= "

119 : Detect= HKCU\Software\Advanced Searchbar\Toolbar

1828 : Detect= HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Works\8.0

Should have DetectFile instead of Detect.

1105 : Detect=%ProgramFiles%\Go!Zilla

3155 : Detect=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\

3148 : Detect=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\

3163 : Detect=%ProgramFiles%\Yahoo!\Messenger\

Warning for [Yahoo Messenger Logs*] is wrong. Change

Warning=This will also delete your saved chat histories.

to

Warning=This will also delete your useage loges.

The RegKey1 for [Yahoo Messenger Profiles*] should be moved to it's own entirty.

A statement for [Yahoo Messenger Profiles*] should be added, such as:

Warning=This will also delete your saved chat histories.

The RegKey1 entry for Yahoo Profiles stores things like custom status messages. Has nothing to do with the messenger profiles folder tree. I know that some people will want to remove the HKCU...Yahoo\Profiles but keep the chat history. That is why I suggested spliting the one entry.

Basically any thing after the "=" starts with HK is a registry key and hence needs Detect line. If what follows the "=" is a "%" or a drive letter then it needs DetectFile line. Does this make sense?

with the changes I recommended - if you wanted to send me a revised winapp2.ini as a private message - I'd be glad to look at it ...... before you post it ....
