you are correct it does not appear in windows XP

Here is what to do

Open Notepad

Paste the following into the blank file

;LangSecRef
;  3001 = Internet Explorer
;  3002 = Windows Explorer
;  3003 = System
;  3004 = Advanced

;Or simply enter text to create a custom section
:LangSecRef=My Section

[Windows XP Error Reporting*]
LangSecRef=3003
LangRef=3149
Default=False
DetectOS=|5.2
FileKey1=%windir%\pchealth\ERRORREP\|*.*|RECURSE

Choose save

Navigate to the ccleaner program folder (usually c:\program files\ccleaner\)

Change the file type to all files

and type winsys2.ini

click save

You'll now have a new entry in the Windows Tab under System called windows Error Reporting. it is unchecked by default

ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION

DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.

Do your Registry Cleaning in small bits (at the very least Check-mark by Check-mark)

ALWAYS BACKUP THE ENTRY, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BREAK IF YOU DON'T.

  • 2 weeks later...

Isn't there an easier way?

What happens if you run CCleaner in Windows 7 & checkmark that box.

Then save the settings to .ini & open it on XP...

Perhaps this can easily be done via a Flash Drive.

Will it retain the settings for XP?

They're two diferent entries, they just look the same on the ccleaner gui because I left the

LangRef=3149

so if you check it on Win 7 it will not be checked on XP

your ini would look like

(App)Windows Error Reporting=False
(App)Windows XP Error Reporting*=False

And yes this information is checked and verified
