RonG
Greetings! An obviously h/w configuration dependent hang, but the system MUST be powered off (UNPLUGGED!) to recover. Specifics: HP xw9300 with: Two AMD Opteron 250 processors 2GB RAM 2 WD SATA hds 1 DVD ROM 1 DVD R/W ! NVidia Quadro FX 540 Mobo Chipset NVidia NForce etc.. Most things enumerated/identified except the RAM and disc drives. If the Piriform s/w developers are interested in additional details, please let me know and I will be happy to provide as available. grumpydad
HI I have a similar problem with Speccy. It stops working and a Windows 7 error message comes up saying "the program has stopped working". This happens while Speccy is checking the ram and MB. Windows 7 x64 Gigabyte UD3R Corsair Dominator 1600 3x2gb PowerColour HD6850 Thanks Dave

RonG
Can you post /debug logs for this? Happy to do so. There are some limitations though, the system HANGS and must be powered off and on again for further activity. Serendipitously I found that SPECCY ran in the debug mode if I did not check all of the options, specifically if I left the SMART checks out. So, attached you will find that log data which was captured prior to the HANG. Speccy_log1_07_2054-1-2011_13-28.txt
Moderators Nergal Posted January 4, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 4, 2011 RonG thanks that's exactly the information they need can you confirm that if you check everything except for smart it does not hang? if so can you run a speccy (via "File>Publish Snapshot" in speccy menu) of the system (using debug without smart checked) and post the link to this thread ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. YES, I can confirm and do that speccy runs in debug mode with SMART options unchecked. I have tried the publish snapshot, but never receive a url, only a Publish Snapshot popup with three option buttons: 1. Open In Browser 2. Copy to Clipboard 3. Close Suggestions? Moderators Nergal Posted January 11, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 11, 2011 can you save as a text file (within speccy File>save as text file) then attach it here? note open the text first and make sure it doesn't list your windows license key if it does replace the key with the word removed or something. Im not sure if it does because mine is a volume key so it just says a bunch of b's ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF. Moderators Nergal Posted January 11, 2011 Moderators Share Posted January 11, 2011 Thanks the developers will look into this p.s. you really should upgrade to SP3 SP2 is old, flawed and no longer under support from Microsoft, this will probably not solve your issue as I believe something is fighting the S.M.A.R.T. reading of one of the drive. I Have posted this in error. It seems there is no SP3 for windows XP x64 and SP2 (for x64) will be supported (according to microsoft) until April 2014 ADVICE FOR USING CCleaner'S REGISTRY INTEGRITY SECTION DON'T JUST CLEAN EVERYTHING THAT'S CHECKED OFF.
