Cleanmem memory manager

I dont know much about brothersoft.

Softpedia and majorgeeks are great. They all came to me and gave me the rewards, so I added them, didn't really think any further than that on it lol.

I checked the alexa rank on them and they where all pretty high, so I thought, sure why not :-)

Why wouldn't they, it's great free advertising for them getting their link on everyone's site (AND it gets them up that pageranking) ;)

That is true, and for a lot of novices who are scared of any new program the awards do make them feel better.

It is a pro/con situation.

Any one of those sites that show not to be respectful I will remove in a heartbeat ;)

Now Windows does keep some of the memory in the page file no matter what. So when you lowered the page file it may just be Windows keeping more in actualy memory instead. (I have 8gb of ram and have my page file off and so I have higher memory usage, about 1.7 GB in use at all times)

Explanation appears to be logical and acceptable (until I read a rebuttal ).

Did you read this entire thread ? Because the maker of this program (SMC1979) does participates in this thread and provides an answer to your question.

Go to: http://www.pcwintech.com/

There're some other great programs (besides Cleanmem) available. Check it out and read the documentation of Cleanmem as well.

Looks interesting. Does it cause problems with gaming? I had a memory saving application that caused excessive lag when running games.

I have it running while playing all my games at MAX settings and don't miss a beat :-)

Try it out. You can always turn it off or uninstall it if you like :-)

Had some bad expierences with these memory cleaners (or suchlike), but I'll give this a try, thanks.

Most memory 'cleaners' are complete BS, this one is slightly different to how most work and is actually worthwhile. Hence why Shane's not chased off when posting about it here ;)

Slightly off-topic, I see Shane's Windows Repair Tool has been used on a malware removal site that I monitor.

No we don't usually chase people off here who are posting and asking for feedback about apps they have developed. This memory cleaner seems to have quite a following now.

A question for other CM users. According to CC (v3.19), CM (v2.41) isn't started upon start up using the "normal" startup procedure but using the Task Scheduler. Can anyone verify this, using CC v3.19 ? Start cc v3.19, click on "Tools", "Startup" and see what pops up in both "Windows Startup" or ""Task Scheduler".

I currently use Win 7 SP 1 with all the latest updates.

I've confirmed this with a second startup checker. I'm not sure I remember but I believe there was a reason given for this

I use the task scheduler to launch cleanmem and the mini monitor because of the UAC.

It is the only way to have them start without the UAC prompt asking for permission. ;)
