Moderators Andavari Posted April 1, 2012 Moderators Share Posted April 1, 2012 So I wait a couple of days and get the FileHippo one with nothing bundled... just easier I guess. Getting the installers from FileHippo is significantly easier! I just wish FileHippo also hosted the Flash Uninstaller, then I wouldn't bother with Adobe's site. Willy2
All the newest versions are either Betas or Release Candidates (RC). Seems Adobe knows Flash needs to be (dramatically) improved. Don't know if I am going to install the latest version any time soon. But the Adobe website also said that v11.1 wasn't succesfully installed on my laptop. Ouch. I guess I'll try to re-install v11.1 properly first. @Andavari: Very good idea. The Flash uninstaller should be available at Filehippo as well. But then the 32 bit and 64 bit uninstaller version should merged into one program and that's not the case, according to Adobe. Still some work to be done for Adobe. The wesbite has become (a bit) more user friendly. System setup: http://speccy.piriform.com/results/gcNzIPEjEb0B2khOOBVCHPc A discussion always stimulates the braincells !!! Alan_B
A bit faster. Why use FileHippo and not the official site (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/)? Because Adobe = Malware. A few years ago their site substituted for the Flash Download a Downloader, which then chose what part of my system it would pollute with itself and with the "Flash Download" that it insisted upon managing itself. At that time there was no way to update Flash without the extra malware. I chose to restore my partition backup and live with the known vulnerabilities of an obsolete Flash Trash rather than trust my system to unknown but guaranteed to be present vulnerabilities of the latest Flash Trash, and that also eliminated their unwanted downloader. Alan_B
The Flash uninstaller should be available at Filehippo as well. If only. They supply the trash, but not the means to remove it. When I search FileHippo they only offer various Adobe products, plus 5 off Google Ads to websites I have never heard off. Quite independant of FileHippo I found this http://www.softpedia...installer.shtml

I would however point out that the only mechanism I could depend upon to remove every trace of their download manager, was the mechanism I will use if my system is ever infected with a virus, i.e. restoring a partition image backup. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck_test when I see a bird that walks like a duck and swims like a duck and quacks like a duck, I call that bird a duck

pcunite
Haven't noticed this. Btw. latest Flash version is 11.2.202.228. That version caused me no end of trouble with IE8 for some reason. I had to revert to the previous version of Flash.

pwillener
The Adobe site also provides full (offline) installers without bundled software: http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer/distribution3.html The uninstallers can be found at http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-windows.html (Windows) or http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/uninstall-flash-player-mac-os.html (Mac). pcunite
Did you uninstall the previous version first or did you install over the top of it? At first, I did as I normally do; I went to Adobe's website and installed the latest version (over the top). When all my home computers starting having browser lockups, I remembered I had updated flash. Then I manually uninstalled Flash, downloaded the previous version, and then ran the install .exe directly for it.
