redhawk
Firmware updates usually improve media compatibility or correct known bugs with your drive. If you experienced no problems with your drive then I wouldn't bother updating the firmware. Richard S.
Moderators Andavari Posted April 25, 2010 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2010 If updating the firmware make certain you're only using an official release downloaded from the manufacturer website, or if the drive is an OEM from your computer manufacturer only use the update they have. Usage of "hacked" non-official firmware can spell the instant death of your drive.

CTskifreak
Thank you for your replies Andavari and Redhawk. Is Firmware updates equivalent to driver updates ?(sorry for the ignorance) Thanks Firmware is equivalent to updating the BIOS compared to updating the software driver for your graphics card. Moderators Andavari Posted April 25, 2010 Moderators Share Posted April 25, 2010 Yes, but some firmware updates can't be undone which is why if you aren't having any particular problems with your device it's best left alone.
