Spiff
Hi everyone, Hi Piriform CCleaner bug-busting team, I would like to mention a possible bug in CCleaner. I don't know if it's a known bug. In CCleaner v2.29.1111, I notice that "Wipe Free Space" will not run unless "Wipe MFT Free Space" is checked. (OS is Windows Vista Ultimate SP2, 32-bit.) Another issue is the fact that running "Wipe MFT Free Space" produces quite a lot of hard drive racket. This makes one anxious to use "Wipe MFT Free Space". This "Wipe MFT Free Space" racket was also the case in CCleaner v2.28, but in CCleaner v2.28 at least there was the option to use "Wipe Free Space" without using "Wipe MFT Free Space", which doesn't seem to work in v2.29. "Wipe Free Space" without "Wipe MFT Free Space" worked very smoothly, with no scary hard drive noises at all. But "Wipe MFT Free Space" produces such a racket one wants to hide under the sofa. Considering these problems, the next time I feel the need for wiping free space, I think I'll use the Acronis True Image option to wipe free drive space. Spiff
I suppose Andretti stumbled upon the same problem as I did. See Andretti's thread: Wipe Free Space
