Sillysauce
I read somewhere that i can trace problems with my CCleaner.. I used this option and found a whole LIST OF PROBLEMS??Don't have the faintest idea wich to repare and wich to ignore. Could someone teach me something about this option? Problems vary from; - Missing DLL file - Old startmenu/software keys - Deinstallationfaults(Should i fix these to make deinstallation complete??) - Installationfailures(Norton wich is replaced by AVG) - Unused file-extensions - Wrong standardpictograms(open with applicationfault??) Because i'm very fresh in computering (AND i am dutch) could you keep any answers very simple please..
Moderators rridgely Posted September 29, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 29, 2005 Its perfectly safe to remove all of those. Did you manage to get rid of norton? If not you may want to download and run this to remove all of it.(norton has one of the worst uninstallers ever.) http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Uninsta...oval-Tool.shtml
Sillysauce
(Thanks for your time) As far as i can tell i've removed Norton yes(Through start.configuration.software right?) All there's left now are a file of Symantec-liveupdate and a 'Norton-SecurityCentre' (wich tells me i'm protected by Avg,ZoneAlarm and Windows auto-update)I kinda like the second one!! I saw there are some files of norton still in the 'problems'-list: InProcServer32\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\LiveReg\LSplugin.dll InProcServer32\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\SLTCHK01.dll InProcServer32\Program Files\NortonAntivirus\IWP\fwUI.dll (and about 10 more of these... Don't know s**t about this pc-language ) Anyway, the only option I have with CCleaner...is to "fix" them(fix like in restore?? Or fix like in 'The Godfather'?? So, you said every scanned 'problem' in the list above i should 'fix' ??
Moderators rridgely Posted September 29, 2005 Moderators Share Posted September 29, 2005 Wow, norton left its live update? That shows how truely crappy that program is. The Security Center is part of Windows XP service pack 2. To find it go to start>Control Panel. Yes you can remove everything found by CCleaner. I suggest you run that norton remover I put in my first post. It will help rid you of all of the remnants of Norton.
