Memory Paging File (Windows XP)

Recommended Posts

This is probably going to turn out to be a stupid question, but I have not been able to find the answer in CCleaner documentation.

Is the Windows XP Memory Paging File, called pagefile.sys and normally located in the C:\ root directory, wiped by CCleaner ??

If so, where is it included?

-- as part of the Cleaner > Windows > Advanced > Free Space wipe?

-- as part of the Cleaner > Windows > System > Temporary Files?

-- or someplace else I haven't recognized?

Thanks

The pagefile (or swap file) is used by the OS and rebuilt at every system boot.

To delete it, in any particular computing session, see MS KB314834

Applies to XP.

Makes shutdown take 1-2 min longer.
