New version of this great little program can be gotten here

I just installed it over the top of my other version and had no problems running a backup afterwards, it saved all my settings and jobs.

Thank you Hazel for the news of this update.

I have had this program installed for some time and silly me, I had forgotten about it. When I downloaded Karen's Replicator some time ago it had good reviews, I assume the same is true today.

Do you use it on a regular basis?

Hi,

Thanks for the information.

I like this software as Karen's Replicator allows you to backup directories, files and even entire drives!

Karen's Replicator copies selected files from one drive/folder to another. Source and Destination folders can reside anywhere on your network.

Like Tom I use it on a regular basis. I don't have it set to do the backup at set times, it's just something I do in my regular weekly routines. It's great knowing that with one click everything I have added to my pics, music, and installers folder etc, since the last time is backed up in just a few seconds.

I would recommend it to anyone as just another way to safeguard things you wouldn't want to lose. I backup to an external hardrive.

She has quite an extensive list of free programs and is highly rated by lots of users

I don't use much of Karen's software; mostly because I have other stuff that does similar things. But she does have a a lot of useful stuff under one roof. And there's always something to be said for getting software from the same vendor; you get used to the way that they do things and that can mean that you get more out of all of the software ... sort of 1+1=3 ;)

One thing that perplexes me is though, is why she doesn't port her apps to VB .Net

I've just had a look at the Replicator and it's quite handy bit of software isn't it. One similar free offering is Microsoft's SyncToy. The big advantage of Karen's tool is the comprehensive scheduling (SyncToy has none), whereas SyncToy probably has better synchronisation options ... horses for courses as usual.

A tool of hers that I do really like is her Hasher ... I've struggled to find a program that will do a single hash of a whole folder structure ... not that big of a deal to many people I guess :)
