CCleaner changed desktop icon images

Just installed version 2.22 and ran the cleaner - now desktop and some folder icons have modified icons. How do I return the icons to their original state and how do I prevent this from happening in the future? Thanks.

If you are using xp and the icons have changed to generic ones (like white squares) try this

1.Right click an empty area of your Desktop

2.Select Properties

3.Select the Appearance tab

4.Choose the Advanced button

5.In the "Item:" drop down menu, click the entry titled 'Icon'

6.Using the up or down arrows, change the number displayed

Click OK

Using the above instructions, change the value number of step #6 back to its original position.

I was able to restore to the point right before installing the cleaner and the icons are back to normal. So now the question is - what do I unselect to prevent this from happening? And is it in the file cleaner or registry cleaner? Thanks.
