gilmour
Purchased a laptop 2 weeks ago, running vista home premium and ms office 2007. running same set up on desktop . The problem is with the laptop using defraggler continually shows 73% defrag - surely the laptop would be crippled by this , but its working fine the main files shown as having the defrag issues are C:\system volume the total fragged files is 48Gb, not insignificant any thoughts on what 's occuring hers thanks
gilmour
Had a look at the problem in more detail and the high defrag looks to be caused by a partitioned part of the hard drive, ie 15Gb (D Drive) This is done by dell so that they can help recover the computer if there is a major failure . Mystery over , though it still shows 36% defrag for the D drive. If I have the time I'll e mail dell in the future to find out whats happening - It is stressed the laptop works very well

seidedick
C:\System Volume Information is the place where Restore points and Shadow copies are stored. Since these files are generally hidden by Vista, is there a way to work around this to defrag them without disrupting system integrity. Thanks, d***
