Talco
Hello, After running ccleaner, the HTTP connection (using any browser) is destroyed and brings back a blank page, with no notice. I've been checking this and the problem seems to be with the Temporary files. once its unchecked and ccleaner ran there is no problem. if you check it, it will destroy your internet connection. the problem seems to be that ccleaner deletes folders (even if they were created within the last 48 hours) in the WINDOWS\TEMP folder. Avira creates two folders to operate correctly: AVGUARD_49bb21be (just random) WEBGUARD once ccleaner runs and cleans this two folders avira probably blocks the internet / dysfunction. solution seems to be: to keep also folders which were created within the last 48 hours. Please fix. other than that Ccleaner is great! Tal
YoKenny
On my XP Pro system with Avira I looked in WINDOWS\TEMP folder and I do not see any files of those names there and in fact I do not see any file nor Folder called WEBGUARD on the hard drive. The Internet connection works great as well or I would be real upset if CCleaner messed with that. I should have mentioned versions: ccleaner v 2.17.853 avira premium security suite , product version 8.2.0.252 with web guard activated. Keeping two folders does not mean messing with the program. ty Tal
Moderators hazelnut Posted March 9, 2009 Moderators Share Posted March 9, 2009 I find it surprising that avira's temp files are not in c\documents and settings\all users\application data\temp Support contact https://support.ccleaner.com/s/contact-form?language=en_US&form=general or support@ccleaner.com
Moderators DennisD Posted March 9, 2009 Moderators Share Posted March 9, 2009 Hi tal, and welcome to the forum. I don't use Avira, so can't comment on it, but you could simply exclude those folders in CCleaner\Options\Exclude\Add File or Folder.

I do not like software based firewalls as they seem to mess up too much. Have a look at the Avira forum in the Suite area to see all the problems the firewall is causing: http://forum.avira.com/wbb/index.php?page=...amp;boardID=131 "Education is what remains after one has forgotten everything he learned in school." - Albert Einstein IE7Pro user
Talco
thanks for the reply's... the thing is that during my search for solution I found numerous posts of desperate ppl looking for a solution, so I thought that this issue should be addressed widely and not individually for me if I exclude the webguard folder its still erased, this happens due to the fact that the folder is empty. my solution was to include a blank text file inside the folder. thanks for the help, still hoping that the developers will address this issue since its absolutely troubling. it requires restart in order to fix the internet connection. (or avira restart or creating WEBGUARD folder in windows\temp). Tal
