I hope it is the right place to ask about home wireless networks...I have a linksys 802.11b wireless router, a desktop that runs xp-home and a laptop, also running xp-home, all connected by this router. The problem is pretty simple. The signal is weak in several areas of my home (upstairs about 150 feet away form the router). I have read about a linksys wireless signal booster (wsb24) but the reviews are quite mixed. Any suggestion about a simple, relatively inexpensive way to increase the signal from the router to the laptop? Thanks! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Capman Posted July 7, 2005 Share Posted July 7, 2005 Also bear in mind that walls, furniture, electrical cables, water pipes, etc, are all going to reduce the distance that a wireless network can operate over. The figures quoted by manufacturers are often for environments where no obstructions exist, ie outdoors or in a big empty space. But rridgely was right going up to a "g" from a "b" should help a lot.
