siljaline 0 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 There will certainly be a heavy server load for this much-anticipated upgrade. Since MS has now fixed Vista - they want happy XP users, we shall see. As I've said elsewhere, you might expect some Vista bits in this update, I do not know for sure. Silj
Andavari 1 Report post Posted April 28, 2008 Is MS saying that .NET and Silverlight are neccessary updates? Gimme a break. Don't know however everytime I visit the MS site they have that damned Silverlight popup which started getting old, and I have no intention of ever using it so I blocked it! Silj It was a 324MB download and after about 10 minutes of installing it failed with Permission Failure running as Administrator on my XP Pro system. hazelnut 2 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 Why was it 324mb kenny do you know? Mine was 316 and I think that is the size that most sites list it as.
siljaline 0 Report post Posted April 29, 2008 The RTM build is not up on this side of the pond, yet. I think folks are grabbing whatever URLs they can find in a rush to install the upgrade. Silj

hazelnut 2 Report post Posted April 30, 2008 Might be better to give a link to the download page rather than a link to the direct download. Most people are wary of clicking on a direct download as they cannot see the page it's linked from.

Coronagold 0 Report post Posted May 4, 2008 I'm waiting till someone yells "They fixed it!", that's usually a good sign. Doesn't matter what was wrong in the first place.

davey 0 Report post Posted May 6, 2008 Interesting info http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2008/05/0...-and-xpsp3.aspx Thanks Hazel, that is going to be an important link for quite awhile. Also thanks for the correction about direct links for users. I like to know exactly where I am linking to. For news people and bloggers to say click HERE or SOURCE or LINK is one thing. But when you don't know to trust the provider or not,I usually don't click on such links. I don't want to be dropped into the middle of Broodersoft or PukerKasino or KoolGates. davey
