davey Posted May 23, 2008 Share Posted May 23, 2008 Finally switched my firewall from Windows Firewall to Jetico Firewall 1 (freeware version). Once you set everything up, it works like a charm. TeeJay3800 Posted August 5, 2008 Share Posted August 5, 2008 After some serious Windows kernel errors encountered while booting after uninstalling ZoneAlarm, I am now not using a software firewall for the first time since I got broadband internet back in 2000. I'm behind my LinkSys EtherFast BEFSR41 NAT router, and still pass the GRC ShieldsUP! test with flying colors. I know I don't have any outbound protection, but since spyware and virus scans never find anything, my version of Windows is completely patched and up-to-date, and I don't visit questionable sites or download dangerous material, I think I'll be fine.
