quicky
hey piriform-guys! great tool, but ;-) (there's always a "but" I guess). will it be possible to use defraggler to optimize my thumbdrive? or that useless anyways? I use my thumbdrive to run a lot of portable apps (like defraggler) so i thougt it would be useful to defrag it from time to time. thanks for your reply! quicky

Guest_Jim_*
Depending on the size, speed, and use of the drive you can always copy everything off of it, wipe everything off of it, and replace the files. The files will be put back without fragments.

Guest_Jim_*
Lusher notes that defraging thumbdrives might not be the brightest idea. That sounds right. All forms of rewritable media have a limited number of times it can be written to before it is no longer any good. With defragging having to read (which can also lessen the life span I think) and then write to the flash media that use the number of times it can be used. It all depends on how often one would be using the drive and how often they would be defragging it. Besides, would there be a noticeably improvement in performance if a flash drive were defragged?
