I was wondering if this setup looks ok...? Will everything be compatible...? By the way, I copied this setup from someone else on another forum, may not seem like a good idea but there was positive feedback and I wanted another opinion. Supaflies 0 Report post Posted May 30, 2005 I might be able to get a better system, in a shorter amount of time, probably 2-3 or 3-4 thousand bux of spending money on it, maybe even more, if I land the job I'm applying for tommorrow...What do you guys think..? Is this a good setup? or do I need upgrading?

Eldmannen 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2005 Seems like a good setup. Great choice of CPU too. But the setup depends on what you need the computer for. You have a pretty expensive graphics card, if you're not so much into games, you probably can buy a cheaper one. Creative makes good soundcards. They recently made the X-Fi sound processor. Maybe you can get a Creative Soundblaster card with X-Fi technology or an Soundblaster Audigy 2.

Eldmannen 0 Report post Posted May 31, 2005 Motherboard seems good, it has SATA support, it support Athlon64 which is the CPU he intend to use, it seems to have 4x slots for DIMM which ensures possibility to upgrade more RAM in future if nescesary, it has gigabit network interface, and even RAID support. He also dont need buy soundcard because the motherboard has a built-in sound card. Unless he play powerful games he wont need a graphics card since he can use the on-board one. Even has a hardware firewall -impressive-.
zaphirer 0 Report post Posted June 1, 2005 This is definitely meant for gaming! You really maxed this thing out random coments ... AMD Athlon, sw33t... Very good choice on the gfx card... there are ways of upgrading the 6800GT to a 6800 Ultra too The 6800 GT is superior to the ATi cards at that same price range... if you wanted to go up to the 6800 Ultra/ ATi X800 then I think the ATi would be the better choice... In general, very high-end machine, only quite expensive when added up?
