Hi, Sorry Im new.

I have just downloaded CCleaner as my laptop is running slow and I thought it might help.

I have downlaoded it on instructions from here...

http://www.jahewi.nl/CCleaner/quick/quick.html

I havent selected any cookies that I want to keep as Im supposing I can just visit those sites again.

I have clicked on RUN CLEANER and it comes up with the message 'This process will permanently delete files from your system' obvioulsy this is the point but Im scared of deleting any important system files (somehow I have managed to do this before) Could anyone help me please.

Cheers

Alex

umm keep cookies of sites YOU TRUST and vistit quite often .. remove the other ones .. like advertisments .. etc. etc. because they do 'deposit' tracking cookies which can steal data from your computer! .. about the Autocomplete .. its upto you .. if you want your browser to remember the site you visited .. etc.. etc... i mean the name describes it all .. man its upto you .. :P

Simplicity is hard.

Hello xela and welcome to the forum :)

Yes it can be a bit scary using a software for the first time.

When using CCleaner it will delete temp files and other things that over time can slow your system down.

When using the "issues" function of CCleaner you are offered the choice of saving a backup of the registry entries it deletes in case you need to restore them. They are saved by default in "my documents" and can be restored by right-clicking on them and choosing merge.

To get back to the cleaner function, this has no backup as this is not found to be needed. Do not tick anything in the advanced section until you are more familar with the program.

I am sure you will be okay :)

A read of this my help you as well
