CCleaner and the viruses

Recommended Posts

It seems to be the same for the source file downloaded on the official site with the name of "ccsetup141.exe"

This is the result of an online scan of uninst.exe i've just done on Virustotal:

Please report it to BitDefender as "Probably False Positive", so they can correct their signatures :)

I have been receiving the same message for this latest CCleaner update from my bullguard too, another user I see :)

I'm waiting for BullGuard to either change it's definitions or CCleaner's creator to find a work around to this bug.

It is not up to the creator of CCleaner to fix as it is not a bug. The problem is that some virus/malware products flag uninstallers as malware when they are not, it is a false positive on their part, and once they are informed they usually update their definitions.

Just last week Norton was flagging CCleaner and Second Life uninstallers as Adware.CPush.

FYI to those who are not aware. BullGuard uses BitDefender as their Anti-virus engine last as I've heard. I am also a BullGuard user & OF COURSE a CCleaner user?

I was getting the same notice. I re-downloaded today & installed with no problems. I also scanned the .exe & the whole CCleaner folder & everything came up clean. Looks like they fixed the false positive. Goody goody.

For everyone information, currently my Avira-Antivir detect uninst.exe

as "infected" by TR/Dldr.Zlob.AAD0.5

I've just submitted the file to their online scan service, and this is the result:

--------------------

The file 'uninst.exe' has been determined to be 'FALSE POSITIVE'. In particular this means that this file is not malicious but a false alarm. Detection will be removed from our virus definition file (VDF) with one of the next updates.

--------------------

This sounds really crazy

Hope they will update their signatures as soon as possible.
