This has been mentioned before, and unfortunatly you can't have cleaning one without cleaning the other :( .

But some application do this job very well like Privacy Guardian

than why not CCleaner(the great one)

I do not understand which file(s) responsble for this

I do not understand which file(s) responsble for this

All the entries "responsibles" are stored in the winapp.ini file

Open it in notepad, search for [Office2003]

Find this string, that IMO (repeat IMO) is "responsible" of Word settings deletion:

RegKey10=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data|Settings

and edit it like follow (just start with a ; for temporarily deactivate)

;RegKey10=HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Data|Settings

Save and retry an Analyze process. IMO (repeat IMO :)) in this way all the crap

will be detected/deleted, except Word settings. Sorry i can't try this tweak on my

own computer, since i don't have Office2003 installed.

NOTE

As written in winapp.ini file itself, editing it is dangerous.

First save somewhere a backup copy of the original winapp.ini

If you don't want CCleaner messing with your Word 2003 setting you'll have to untick Office 2003 in CCleaner because it not only removes the Recent File List but the settings as well, actually alot of cleaning tools do that, i.e.; Spybot-S&D, etc. That's soley because Word stores it's Recent File List in the Settings. The best way to clean Word's Recent File List is to either do it in Word itself, or completely disable the Recent File List by lowering the number of recent files it will remember.

However, there is something wrong in MS Office detection.

On my PC is installed Office 2000, and CCleaner detects both Office2003 and OfficeXP

Maybe this isn't a CCleaner fault, since in my

registry path HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\

are registered 10.0 11.0 9.0 and Word
